More than 50,000 quarry workers in Navi Mumbai live in sub-human conditions. And you can help.

Focus Areas

The core essentials on which the entire community effort depends.

We believe that every human being has the right to reasonably good health care. Our HIV/AIDS campaign is one of the major efforts in this direction.

Child Education

We run projects like The Little Buddha and Bridge Classes in this regard. Our efforts prepare the children towards joining a more formalized educational system.

Women Empowerment

The welfare of women is an integral part of all our projects. Special SHGs (self-help-groups) and Mahila Mandals have also been formed for this purpose.

Food Security & Insurance

Providing sufficient food for these impoverished communities is imperative. It becomes a prerogative for them to be able to acknowledge other pressing issues. We’ve also managed to get through micro-insurance policies to these people.

ARPHEN is a not-for-profit organization working for the welfare and benefit of the underprivileged and the downtrodden. Help in any manner can do wonders for our cause.

About Us

Who's behind the movement. And what makes us tick.
Association of Rural People for Health & Educational Needs

ARPHEN was established in 1986 and works for the development of about 50,000 quarry workers, tribals, industrial workers and slum dwellers in Navi Mumbai and Mumbai who live in unhygienic conditions– specifically in the Thane-Belapur belt and Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. The organisation, along with its net working organisational partners, facilitates the provision of basic health care and education for the community along with extended government support.

The focus is on capacity building and empowerment of the people through the formation and maintenance of groups, while still assisting them in developing access to basic facilities.

ARPHEN believes in developing strong linkages between the government and the NGOs – our committed partners in working towards achieving cent-percent school enrolment, full empowerment, good health and the basic amenities which realizes the right to live in a fuller sense. People behind ARPHEN are professional social workers with expertise in community management.
